Sandy Leas House

Project in detail

Set within a mature countryside setting, this project transforms a private existing dwelling through a contemporary extension and full refurbishment. The design continues the material narrative established in other rural schemes, combining charred timber cladding and flint stone detailing to ground the home within its natural surroundings.

The extension introduces a modern architectural language that complements the existing form while enhancing spatial flow, natural light, and visual connection to the landscape. Expansive glazing opens the interior to the garden, while the darkened façade and textural stonework allow the building to sit quietly and respectfully within its rural context.

Sustainability is embedded throughout the scheme, with high-performance insulation, natural materials, and passive solar design principles ensuring long-term energy efficiency and a reduced environmental impact.
