Greenbelt lodge

Project in detail

A carefully considered response to its Green Belt setting, this bespoke single-storey home has been designed to sit quietly within the landscape, minimising its visual impact while enhancing its natural surroundings. The low-profile form and horizontal emphasis reduce perceived massing, allowing the building to nestle comfortably into its context. A restrained material palette of soft-toned brick and vertically expressed timber introduces a contemporary architectural language, while maintaining a warmth and tactility that reflects the rural character of the site.

Sustainability is at the core of the design. A living roof with native grasses softens the building’s silhouette, promotes biodiversity, and improves thermal performance, while large, carefully positioned areas of glazing maximise natural daylight and strengthen the connection between internal spaces and the surrounding landscape. Internally, the layout has been designed to flow intuitively, creating open, light-filled spaces that frame views out to the garden and beyond.

The result is a modern, eco-conscious home that balances architectural clarity with environmental sensitivity, delivering a contemporary dwelling that feels both grounded in its setting and forward-thinking in its approach.
